Neue Active is a women’s activewear brand that was looking to establish its online presence with a brand new e-commerce website. The client wanted the website to be user-friendly, visually appealing, and capable of showcasing its range of activewear products.
The goal of the project was to design and develop an ecommerce website that would showcase the Neue Active brand and its Activewear products while providing a seamless and engaging shopping experience for customers.
As Neue Active was a relatively new brand, I had limited information to work with and the main challenge was to create a design that is aesthetically pleasing and showcases the brand’s unique values. Another challenge was to ensure that the website was easy to navigate, and customers could easily find the products they were looking for.
To overcome these challenges, a user-centered design approach was adopted. The website was developed on WooCommerce as per the client’s preference. A style guide was created to maintain consistency in visual design across all pages. The website was made fully responsive to ensure optimal performance on different devices.
The design process was divided into several phases: research and planning, site map creation, wireframing, and visual design. Development was done simultaneously with the design process.
Research & Planning
Thorough research and analysis were conducted on the client’s brand, target audience, and competitors. The client provided their preferences, which helped me in creating a design that aligned with their vision.
I found the following outcomes from the research and analysis step:
- I found that the target audience is women between the ages of 22 to 34 who are working professionals.
- I discovered that there is a growing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly activewear options among the target audience.
- Competitor research revealed that there are several established activewear brands in the market, but there is still room for Neue Active to differentiate itself through a unique design aesthetic and sustainable approach.
- Through the analysis of the client’s brand guidelines and preferences, I gained a clear understanding of their vision and was able to create a design that aligned with their goals and objectives.
A detailed site map was created to determine the hierarchy of the website’s pages and their relationships to each other. This helped me to understand the flow of the website and ensure that all the important pages were included in the design.
After finalizing the site map, I created wireframes for each page of the website. The wireframes were designed to showcase the layout, structure, and functionality of the website without the distraction of colors, typography, and other visual elements.
I created a style guide that defined the visual elements of the website, such as color scheme, typography, and imagery. This helped me to ensure consistency throughout the website.
The home page featured a hero image that showcased the brand’s products and values.
Some of the key features of the home page design include:
- Navigation menu that directs customers to different sections of the website.
- Prominent call-to-action button that leads customers to the shop page.
- Featured products section that showcases the brand’s bestsellers.
- Product card slider that allows customers to browse through a selection of products.
- Newsletter subscription form that encourages customers to sign up for the latest updates and promotions.
The shop/category page featured the brand’s products in an organized manner.
Some of the key features of the shop page design include:
- Navigation menu that directs customers to different product categories
- Filter and sort options that help customers narrow down their search
- Product cards that display key information about each product
The product page design included all the essential information about the product, including the product image, description, and reviews.
Some of the key features of the product page design include:
- Product images gallery that showcases the product from different angles.
- Product information that includes product name, description, price, and availability.
- Product options such as size, color, and quantity selection.
- Product recommendations and related products to encourage cross-selling and upselling.
- Add to cart button for easy purchase.
- Shipping and return policy information to address customer concerns.
The cart page featured a summary of the products added to the customer’s cart.
Some of the key features of the cart page design include:
- Clear product information that includes product name, image, price, and quantity
- Ability to update the quantity or remove a product from the cart
- Estimated total cost including taxes and shipping charges
- Checkout button that leads customers to the checkout page.
The checkout page featured a simple and intuitive design that allowed customers to complete their purchase easily.
Some of the key features of the checkout page design include:
- Ability to enter billing and shipping information
- Payment options that include credit/debit card or PayPal
- Order summary that includes a breakdown of the order and total cost
- Place order button that completes the purchase.
The website was developed using WooCommerce as the ecommerce platform, customized to align with the visual design and functionality requirements.
Fully Responsive website
The website was designed and developed to be fully responsive, ensuring a seamless user experience across all devices.
I conducted extensive testing to ensure that the website was fully functional, user-friendly, and optimized for performance.
The final website not only met the client’s requirements but also exceeded their expectations. The website’s user-friendly design and intuitive navigation provided an enjoyable browsing experience for customers. The website was optimized for search engines and was designed to be visually appealing and user-friendly.
